About the Creator

Luis Gonzalez, creator of Hammer Calculator

Hi, I'm Luis Gonzalez.

I'm a web developer who enjoys turning complex construction math into simple, easy-to-use tools. I built Hammer Calculator so homeowners, DIYers, and contractors can get accurate material estimates without digging through spreadsheets or paying for an app.

The Story

Why I built Hammer Calculator

It started with a simple frustration. Every time I needed to figure out how many bags of concrete to buy or how much lumber a deck frame required, I'd end up on a site cluttered with pop-ups or one that wanted me to download an app for a single calculation.

So I built my own. What began as a concrete calculator grew into a full library of over 200 tools spanning concrete, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and more. Each one is designed to give you a clear answer in seconds — no sign-ups, no paywalls, no clutter.

Every calculator includes the formulas and methodology behind the numbers. I believe that understanding how an estimate works helps you make better decisions on the job site. If you want to see the math, it's always there.

A note on accuracy

All results are estimates based on standard industry formulas and material specifications. Real-world variables — site conditions, local building codes, material availability, and labor practices — can affect final quantities and costs. Always confirm estimates with a licensed professional before purchasing materials or beginning work.
